7 Homemade Fall Cat Treats to Try This Season

I love fall for many reasons–the cool weather, the cozy sweaters, the festive decorations–but the main reason is food. I’m a sucker for a delicious bowl of chili, a warm apple pie, and a pumpkin spice latte.

The weather in Minnesota has flirted with the upper 60s./lower 70s lately, so I definitely already pulled out my crockpot.

When it comes to delicious fall food, I don’t just want myself to enjoy it–I want to share the love with my three fur babies!

If you’ve grabbed some seasonal produce from your local grocery or farmer’s market lately, you’ll want to make these homemade fall cat treats. Your kitty will thank you!

Homemade fall cat treats

1. Pumpkin Smoothies and Roasted Turkey Medallions

This tasty treat duo is a fantastic alternative to your Thanksgiving dinner. As another fun addition, the pumpkin smoothies can be frozen and used as Popsicles if you live in an area where the summer heat hasn’t quite lifted!

2. Pumpkin Tuna Cat Treats

My cats go absolutely crazy for tuna. If I buy any for myself, I have to buy extra specifically for them. But combine it with fiber-rich pumpkin? What’s not for your little ones to love?

Remember that, just like in humans, tuna should be eaten in moderation because of its high mercury levels.

3. Peanut Butter Cat Treats

Okay, maybe peanut butter isn’t a traditional fall food, but when combined with applesauce, these chewy treats will be perfect for Thanksgiving (or any time!).

4. Bacon and Apple Cat Treats

If your kitty is bored of the pumpkin flavors, try this bacon and apple treat that is sure to be a hit. The recipe calls for flour, but I recommend substituting with an oat flour or rice flour to avoid grain.

5. Grain-Free Pumpkin Cat Treats

Speaking of grain-free, these treats are easy to make and packed with good vitamins and nutrients. No filler ingredients to be had! These treats also provide a nice crunch if your cat prefers that texture over the more chewy treats.

6. Salmon Sweet Potato Cat Treats

What fall dish is complete without a sweet potato? These treats provide a different experience for your cat, as they are frozen instead of baked! (The sweet potato is baked and mashed prior to being mixed into the treat batter.)

7. Chicken and Cranberry Cat Treats

I absolutely adore cranberries, and I was so excited to learn they were good for my cats as well! These treats use chicken, but can be substituted for whatever kind of meat that your kitty likes best. Sounds like an excellent use of some extra Thanksgiving ingredients! Or an easy, any time treat they are sure to love.

  1. Your post is excellent! We’re in a downtown high-rise and the concierge has a big glass bowl with a variety of dog bones. Whenever I come into the building I always think, “now how do the cat parents feel about that…” I’m going to make some of these and put them out this weekend – kitties deserve treats too! And yummy ones at that!
